BF3 Thoughts Empty
PostSubject: BF3 Thoughts   BF3 Thoughts EmptyWed 26 Oct 2011, 20:18

After playing this game for a bit now I figured I would share my thoughts/rant. So here we go.

Ill get the rants out of the way first... dont get discouraged tho, there are aspects that I do like. LOL!

Chat - Before your actually in game you can hear everyone in your party. Once your in game everyone is distorted and choppy, you can't he-an-ing... oh btw I was trying to say cant hear anything... you get the idea.

And what is the deal with not being able to back out of a pre game lobby? I mean if the match hasnt started yet, you should be able to back out. This forces you into another match and if you quit once the matches starts if shows on your stats that your a quitter... nice. NOT!

Lag issues on one map in particular, I cant remember its name but it seems that everyone is experiencing that same problem. 2 steps forward, 1 step back.

You can only customize one sides weapons under the 'My Soldier' menu. Then if your on the other team all your weapons are stock and youll have to screw around with them before you enter the match which takes away from in game time.

With all of that said. I dont mind the game. It is very very different from COD. In my humble opinion it does not run as smoothly and the chat function is broken. But it does have some merit. Graphics are great, maps are HUGE, and the ability to climb into any vehicle you want is pretty neat.

It is the most realistic FPS out there but that doesn't neccesarily mean the best. As much as the graphics are appealing the gameplay just isn't there for me. Its not as fun as COD games. If the fun factor and playability isn't there it won't hold my attention and that's where EA falls flat on their face.

And the opposite can be said for COD. You get a near flawless gameplay experience but the graphics arnt great... Nor will they ever be. That's not what they focus on and I'm glad for that. They focus on the gameplay and mechanics oF the game and in turn you get more game modes, more guns, more customization, a working chat system and more.

My 2 cents.

Great review Dennis. I was in doubt whether to buy BF3 or not but if you say it lacks the fun of COD then this is not a game for me.
Just have to wait a few days for MW3.

Baldy.

Just to say there weren't chat issues in BC2 so this would seem to be a start-up problem for battlefield3 - and hopefully they'll fix it. Also sad to hear they have LAG issues - I never, never had LAG with BC2 so again hopefully its a temporary issue, there is I believe an awful lot new under the covers of the engine so there are bound to be some defects which only show up under load.

Thanks for the review TacFifty. I have to agree with you. I havne't has as much time with this game but still plan to continue to play it in hopes that these issues will be patched. I am also with ER on this. The fact that none of these issues were going on in BF2 make me beleive that they will be able to fix it. I just hope, for Battlefield's sake, that it isn't a situation where it is too late. If it isn't fixed by the release of MW3, then many may consider BF3 broken and move onto MW3. And COD wins again!! I think BF has been trying to be the COD breaker for a number of years but just haven't been able to pull it off. I guess that my opinion and other may differ.

I never understand why people have such an issue with Mw3 beating out BF3. Everyone needs to put the fan boy in them aside that only hurts the industry. If a game is fun them im going to play it weather thats Call of Duty or My little pony. If a game is fun for you then thats all the reason u need to play it. For me BF3 has it's moments and sometimes it's fun and sometimes its not. I will play this game untill Mw3 comes out making sure to play thru the campaine. In this day and age i just can't understand how a developer can look at a game like CoD see how well it does everything and not implament that in their own way. Voice chat above all others should be flawless there is no excuse for it not to work correctly. Good thing is tho its not like it's a ps3 only issue Xbox has the same problems.

Was watching Dub yesterday playing this game and it did look realistic with tanks, vehicles and aircraft. But have an issue with infantry soldiers jumping into tanks and driving them away. Most soldiers are not trained for that so to me that part of the game is not realistic.

A few other things I noticed yesterday was,
1. The graphics looked smooth and realistic, much better than CoD.
2. You can jump over and onto more things on this game than CoD.
3. Someone wrote in a post that in BF you have to take your time and not rush around like you do in CoD games. Well with what I saw yesterday that looks to be true.
4. This game seems to be a much more team based game.

So with what I've wrote I'm going to pop to a friends in the next week and have a few games and if I like it, I'm going to get it. Very Happy

Happy Killings..... Twisted Evil

Black Ops is the first FPS I have ever played.
This game has shown me that I lack skill to be a good player even after all the hard work Arran did to make me a better player.
It seems that BF3 is slower paced than COD, does that mean that you need other skills to be succesfull at this game, for example being patient, camping, sniping...
Before I joined 4GC I played a lot of HC FFA and I loved the very slow pace of these games. Could I find this in BF3?
I will have a look on YouPorn YouTube to check for multiplayer gameplay.

Hope more guys give their thoughts on BF3 over here.

Hang tough,

Baldy.

I haven't noticed ANY lag on the game with exception of Tehran Highway. That map is 3 steps forward, 2 steps back. They need to fix it. I can lag my ass of in Blops. And I love that game.

The voice thing does suck ass. I haven't found a way to mute assholes who leave their mics open.

I played BF2 on the PC for years. The squad and chat issues didn't exist there. So, hopefully they will fix them soon.

The game play is different. It is a more realistic game. You have to check your corners, high & low, before you just run in the open. Tons of different hiding spots.

***Side note***

If you are an assault or support player, throw out the damn bags to your team mates. The medics can see your health. As you run by, drop a bag. As you run by, drop ammo. Free points. I have almost 2,000 heals in the 2+ hours I played as med. Just drop the bags.

PostSubject: Re: BF3 Thoughts   BF3 Thoughts EmptyThu 27 Oct 2011, 18:29

I have spent a good bit of time on BF3 over the last 2 days and I really like this game. I am extremely disapointed with the bugs in the game and find it hard to believe that they released the game like this after talking all the smack about it being better than COD. The reason I am so disapointed though is because the game has so much potential.

The only thing that BF3 and the COD series have in common is that they are both first person shooters. The maps are huge on BF3 and this effects game play way more than I could have imagined.

BF3 is built on the idea of 4 person squads with different roles that support each other. This gives the game a much more tactical feel. If you are going through the map with your squad and everyone else dies they can spawn on you.

If you can only buy one of the games I say MW3 for sure. But if you can get past the comparisons and just take it for what it is I think you will really enjoy this game. I think that where BF3 will come in really handy is when September roles around and we are saying the same things about MW3 as we are about Black Ops right now you will be able to switch over to BF3 and have a good time.

I played BF3's version of domination last night with B-Rock and Dark angel and I have to say that they do that game mode way better than COD.

I am having a blast with this game. I am still looking forward to MW3 though.

Yup. Conquest is awesome. 200 points to neutralize the flag and another 200 to secure it. Or is it 150 each. Either way, it rocks.

yeah...you can rack up points pretty quick. I was playing in a match last night with Dub/Crew/B-Rock and I think I had a terrible K/D of 1/6 but I still managed have 2600 points or so because I capped so many flags.

When you trade it in, can you make me the leader of the platoon on battlelog? Since I plan on playing after the release of MW3. That way, I can add peeps as we go. I met a guy last night who seemed cool. I'm gonna send him and invite to check out 4GC.

I've yet to check out the campaigne or the co-op. I think double points on all platforms start tonight. I think I'll be doing that all weekend trying to complete some prestiges. I have COD4, WaW and MW2 to do. Realistic (for me)...no, but I'm still going to try.

thump i promoted u as high as i could ur a "Leader" now. There is no ioption to turn the platoon over to u tho. Could u login to battlelog and see if u can edit the platoon and what not?

also had some really fun games tonight with Thump and crew. Think B-rock and bernie where in a few as well. if only the communication was better in game.
