Error code 80710092 - PlayStation Network is down AGAIN

It's been a frustrating afternoon with me trying to log into the PSN and getting error code 80710092.

After calling Sony's customer care line (UK 0844 7360595) I was informed that unscheduled maintenance is underway. Has the PSN been hacked again by Anonymous? Who knows, but it looks like another anxious wait for the network to be up and running as Sony have no idea how long it will be down.

In the past week, Sony has been hit with small intrusions — a breach at online-service unit So-net Entertainment led to the misuse of user names and passwords of 128 customers. This week, Sony shut web pages that were targeted in Greece, Canada, Thailand and Indonesia.

The PlayStation Network will resume in Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand tomorrow, while services in South Korea and Hong Kong will remain suspended until further notice, Sony said.

“Obviously our network security didn’t stop the attack and we’re trying to understand why, and we’ve made big strides in bolstering our security,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Howard Stringer
